Thoughts on Work Experience

Here's a snapshot of what the TY's are writing about their work experience last week......

Now I know to work hard in school because it shows how far in life you go.

Overall I had a good week, I have realised that I like interacting with children and so this will help me when I consider possible careers.

I think that I got on very well in work experience I got on well with all the nurses and they were very good to me they helped me a lot when it comes to thinking about what I want to do in the future.
That was a week that I will never forget and I truly did have a good time and I’m going to miss it very much.

I went off to The Village at Lyons for the week.  When I’m older I either want to do something with food like a chef or be a primary school teacher. For my second week of work experience, in March, I’m going to my primary school to see what both careers would be like. Should be fun :D

Well Friday was my last day of work experience. I really didn't want to leave when half three came around on the clock.  The week was so enjoyable and I did learned quite a lot about pharmacy.

Tissue engineering is  the future of medicine, groups in America have already grown organs (but they don't have nerve endings or anything) and hopefully in a few years if a patient needs a transplant doctors will be able to extract stem cells from their bone marrow and grow their new organs from that. I don't know if other people would like it but I'm a little nerd so I love this sort of stuff :P

Today was my final day in my work experience and it was very sad. We stayed in the Garda station for the day because 2 detectives came in and explained what they did in their department. It was fun. They passed around a bullet and a gun.... seperatly I might add so we couldn’t load the gun. Then they passed around batons and extended batons they use.

I cannot believe it's over!! This week was absolutely amaaaaazing!!

Working at the DSPCA is very rewarding because you know you are helping animals on their way to recovery and this may sound a bit weird but it was like they appreciated our help in a way, as if they knew we were there to help them.

It was great to experience seeing the school system from the other side their was a sense of responsibility while working their I found it to be very helpful and I learned a lot from it.

So we’ve been doing work experience for the past three days and I don’t know about anyone else, but I see how my parents are so tired. I’m absolutely wrecked! I’m doing work experience in Kevin Street Garda station, I had no intentions of being a guard but surprisingly enough its changing my mind;
