Having a Blast!!

When someone tells you that TY is a doss year you can tell them that they are wrong! Since we've come back from the midterm TY's have been kept very busy, with talks, trips, projects, work experience, and much more.

A few of the girls went to Naas General Hospital to attend talks that were given by the doctors and nurses there. Katie wrote a blog post about the talks she went to, click here to see it.

Many of the girls have been busy with Radio TY interviewing people about the things we are doing in TY like Mini Company and Junk Kouture, as well as things happening around the school such as the Open Day.
Some of the TY's were helping out at the open day, Caoimhe was helping in the music room while Rowen was in charge of the sports displays.

We have been on a few trips this week and had a little bit too much McDonalds and Starbucks. We went to a talk in Tallaght IT for Science Week, see what Sorcha and Rebecca thought of the talk. We also went into town for a W.B Yeats themed trip, which we all enjoyed. Aoife and Laura wrote about the trip.

We have also started doing Zumba during our PE classes and it is great to see everyone dancing, click here to find out what Karen thinks.

A lot of TY's have decided to get involved with our school Musical Calamity Jane and have been busy with the acting, singing, dancing, production team, etc.

A Trip To Mullingar!

On Tuesday the 24th of January all of the TY students set off for Mullingar for the Briery Gap drama competition. A large number of the TY's took part in plays which were called 'Titch Miller', 'Mid-term Break' and 'Concrete Angel'.

Juno and the Paycock

Yesterday, all the TY's went to Dublin on an English Trip. We went to see the Yeats exhibition and then went to the National Museum and National Library. At 2 o' clock we went to the Abbey Theatre to see Juno and the Paycock, the play that we read in English class. I really enjoyed it.

Book Reviews.

For the past few weeks the T.Y’s have been reading different books and writing book reviews on their chosen book for their English classes. All of the books that the T.Y’s have chosen to read have come of the 2013 prescribed texts for the leaving cert. Some of the books that the T.Y’s have been reading are : My sisters keeper, 1984, Never let me go, Wuthering heights and The great Gatsby.

Bog bodies, Yeats and Eimear!

Eimear wrote a great post about the TY English trip to Dublin to see the Yeats exhibition and the Natural History Museum.

Drama workshops...provided by our own students!

Aoife tells us about the recent drama workshop that Ms Guilfoyle and 5 of our own TY's did with class Emnet in their English drama class.....

On Thursday the 7th of November class Emnet had a workshop with the 5 students who went to a Drama workshop on the Tuesday at Holy Faith Convent, Glasnevin. (while they were gone.. We were getting the Cervical Vaccination done =[ ).

It was really funny with the different excerises. We did a trust excerise, eg everyone in a circle and really close together with our right shoulder facing into the centre, then we all leaned back into a sitting position and we all leaned on each other. This gave us trust, if one fell down the rest followed :P..

All this was to help us with the drama we are doing in English. Our class is creating a drama (which we are going to enter into a competition :D ). One group is doing a drama about a car crash while the other group is doing one based on an abuse victim.

We are having people in from Accord next week to help us with relationships and we hope that after the mid-term the Headspace drama group will come into us to help us with our drama :)..
